This win leaves Spain tied with Portugal on 4 points each and both with the same goal difference. Iran follow closely in third place with 3 points.
Diego Costa secured the winner which took a fortunate bounce whilst Iran will feel hard done by the disallowed goal for offside.
This has set everything up for a dramatic matchday 3 which will see Spain take on Morocco, a match they need to win if they are to progress, and Portugal will take on Iran in a massive do or die game.
